# # # # To mark 20 years of activities, Cure Parkinson’s has released a FREE audiobook that was written by one of our co-founders, Tom Isaacs. It tells the story of Tom’s diagnosis and of his adventures while he walked 4,500 mile around the coast of Britain. It is an absolutely brilliant story and highly recommended to all. And it is FREE! # # # # |

This is Tom.
In 1996 – at just 27-years of age – he was diagnosed with Parkinson’s. After dealing with the initial shock of it all, Tom embraced his situation and became a committed, (utterly) relentless activist.
Seven years after his diagnosis, Tom walked the entire coastline of the UK to raise awareness and funds for research for Parkinson’s.

And then in 2005, upon his return, he co-founded the medical research charity Cure Parkinson’s.
In his free time, Tom also wrote a book “Shake well before use“. It tells the story of Tom’s diagnosis and subsequent 4,500 mile journey walking the coastline of Britain. In the book, Tom shared a lot about his experience with Parkinson’s and does it with honesty and his witty sense of humour.
As part of marking the 20th anniversary of the charity, Cure Parkinson’s has released for free an audiobook of Tom’s book. And most importantly, it is read by Tom who recorded it before he passed away suddenly in 2017.
I have previously read the book, but it was not the same as hearing the story from Tom’s own voice. I am an audiobook addict and I have to say that this was one of the most enjoyable recordings I have listened to in a long time.
If you would like to listen to the audiobook, click here for more information or simply search for “Shake well before use” on whatever online listening app you use (such as Spotify, Amazon music, etc.
